Bush Moves Toward Martial Law: "President Bush seized this unprecedented power on the very same day that he signed the equally odious Military Commissions Act of 2006. In a sense, the two laws complement one another. One allows for torture and detention abroad, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of America. Remember, the term for putting an area under military law enforcement control is precise; the term is 'martial law.' "

Who didn't know this was coming?

TV Links - StarWars - Clone Wars
Excellent animated series Samurai Jack creator
Genndy Tartakovsky.
Get this bit:
"Tartakovsky has been made creative president of The Orphanage, an animation studio fabricated of Lucasfilm veterans. The company hopes to one day rival animation giant Pixar, and believes that Tartakovsky can get them there. Their first feature will be the sequel to the 1982 classic The Dark Crystal. It will be directed by Tartakovsky and is titled The Power of the Dark Crystal."

Who changed the Bible and why? Bart Ehrman’s startling answers: "We have only error ridden copies, and the vast majority of these are centuries removed from the originals and different from them, evidently, in thousands of ways.

Not only do we not have the originals, we don’t have the first copies of the originals. We don’t even have copies of the copies of the originals, or copies of the copies of the copies of the originals. What we have are copies made later-much later. In most instances, they are copies made many centuries later. And these copies all differ from one another, and many thousands of places . . . Possibly it is easiest to put it in comparative terms: there are more differences among our manuscripts [than] there are words in the New Testament."

End of a debate that should never have begun in the first place.
And get this pentacostals and religious snake handlers:
Your whole belief structure is based on passages that were never written by Mark, so the gibberish and deadly venomous reptile love is even more ridiculous and pointless.

"The elephant in the room, however, is that none of the authors of the Gospels ever claimed to witness any of the events they were reporting."

Read the comments too. You can't shake a true believer with facts, especially those who seem to think they have a personal relationship with "christ".
Kinda creepy, actually.

The Bridge film about The Church of Scientology - by Brett Hanover written and directed

The Bridge film about The Church of Scientology
The Bridge," an anti-Scientology film, was removed from the Internet - and one critic is claiming that folks linked to the religion put pressure on the filmmaker, Brett Hanover."

Watch it before it gets yanked. I guess.

Silly nerrrds.

I totally get that women don't particularly need men (and figure that's definitely for the best), but I'm curious: what kind of woman might want the man who comes up with ideas like this?

SOCKULT!

It's well known that holidays are an essential cog in the economic machine, exploited by national corporation and local industry alike.
Mattress sales, used cars, flora and confectionary, discounts and coupons and closeouts, all of them get air time to move product save for one.
With the exception of seasonal movies and black & orange M&M's, I don't recall ever seeing Halloween used to hype clothing store sales or cell phone plans. Halloween doesn't seem to affect the profit margin much.
(Okay, local benefit haunted houses, a few rural used car dealerships and the rare credit card or cereal commercial).
Maybe it's because it's rather "unchristianly" to exploit the only pagan holiday to remain mostly untouched and unexploited by christianity.
Maybe only cults feel truly comfortable with it because it represents their most profitable season, excluding Christmas of course.
(Whenever someone says "thanks for supporting our mission" I smell a cult).

This holds true for another cult I happen to belong to, Sock Dreams.
We religiously believe that all people should be wearing the most comfortable, versatile, and appealing socks on the planet.

We always do well in October, for Halloween costumes. Starts out a bit slow, a few plaintive "please send asap for a costume" requests start coming in, then the paid priorities, some with "for a costume", then the procrastinating-to-the-last-minute express orders, all the while about doubling before October 30. Then it slows down a bit through early November and picks up quickly at the end.

This year doubled the amount of orders within about 14 days, which is double the total amount over last year, roughly 250 orders a day, and 5 employees not counting my wife and I.
250 might not sound like alot, but it's huge for a little corporaton like us. And it's not 250 orders for a single pair of socks, either.
Some has as much as 20-30 pair!

One of the most popular costumes, year after year,

MilkandCookies - Mel Gibson: GMA Interview
The guy is a nutjob in my opinion, but he makes a good point: jews aren't entirely blameless.
I don't understand why we have to tiptoe around the issue of Israel and Judaism. Anti-Semitism is a term thrown at people far too often, and often unjustified.
Jews as a race are people just like you and me who happen to belong to an ancient cult, just like Mel. Both are based in believing improbable old tales to be factual, both are based on control of their populace, both have committed horrible crimes against humanity.
I'm as anti-semite as I am anti-catholic, anti-christian, even anti-atheist.
To me, an atheist is just as deluded as a cultist, just in a different way. Atheist organizations are themselves cults.

On Lost

The Fuselage
The producers say there is no "unifying theory" that would connect all the dots on the show.
I'll venture one guess, though.
The "Others" commune, just one of the many DI experiments that were being run in the 80's before the "incident".
The Others themselves?
A)Test subjects for the commune
B)Children of scientists
C)Relief workers for hatch personell.
D)All of the above.
It could be that, with any or all scenerios, the people at the commune served the dual purpose of being commune test subjects and hatch relief, explaining why supply drops are still being made, and that at some point after the "incident", they decided as a group to desist from any more scientific manipulation (no more button pushing or receiving notebooks from Pearl). Tehy might have even killed off the original scientists or improsoned them (the other workers with Sawyer and Kate). Maybe they conspired with some scientists to discontinue the work, explaining the age of some othe Others. I believe Ben was born and raised on the island, possibly DeGroots child or even Hanso's.
There is indication of another fallout (Alex and Karl) that leads me along this path.

And it just now occurred to me that Jack is IN an aquarium where dolphins and sharks were once kept, then freed after the "incident", just as the bears and horse were.

People Are Fucking Stupid #4942

NBC10.com - Education - Art Teacher Loses Job After Kids See Nude Sculpture
When I was growing up, my parents opened the door to the world after breakfast and rarely saw me again until dinner. And we were both happier for it.
Kids today are going to grow up being mushy pansies unable to cope with what life throws at them.
Such controlled environments is ultimately not healthy.

I truly believe humans should have to pass rigorous tests before being allowed to breed.
"Would you be upset if your child saw a nude sculpture at a museum of art while on a field trip?"

After voting no and seeing the results, I think it's mostly uptight christians in that neighborhood that complained.

Close Encounters With Stupid People Today: 2
(doesn't count the idiots driving)
Every time they bring their damned cocker spaniel to the dog park and let it off-leash, it gets in a fight, and they act surprised. Every. Time.

Close Encounters With Stupid People Yesterday: 1
The idiot who a few months ago called Lola "vicious" at the dog park (for barking at him then running off) and threatened to sue me if I didn't leash her, almost lost his son's life as it ran out into the street in front of our car.
Anyone who doesn't own a dog- yet brings his child to a dog park that has no playground facilities- and let's the damned thing run free- is a supreme idiot in my book. Add mortgage salesman to that and you've got a bottom-feeding supreme idiot.

At least I don't work with the public any more, where the idiot ratio was waaaay higher.

Now That You Could be Labeled an Enemy Combatant...
"Governor Bush also flouted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child by choosing to execute juvenile offenders, a practice shared at the time only by Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Significantly, in 1998 a full 92% of the juvenile offenders on Bush's death row were ethnic minorities."

"The disgraceful Military Commissions Act and the building of domestic internment camps are yet more examples of blowback from the administration's so-called war on terror, and we ignore these increasing assaults on our civil liberties at our own peril."

Remind me again why so many idiots wanted King Idiot to reign over them. Ooops, answered my own question.

I predicted internment camps and the suspension of the Constitution after Bush stole the first election and again when he stole the second. I predict he will attempt to remain in office before his second disastrous tenure comes to a close.

Is it real news if it comes from India?

US set to cut deal with Taliban- The Times of India

Seriously, I think a majority of people don't read foreign news because they believe it will be biased against the US, or *gasp* conspiratorial.
Now why would they think that if there wasn't a reason?
Bill Frist: "You need to bring them (Taliban) into a more transparent type of government... And if that's accomplished, we'll be successful."

It was never about liberation or removal of a radical religious group.
It has been, is, always will be about control.

You know why they call him "Poppy" Bush?

On That Whole Foley Mess

He was thrown to the wolves to detract from other issues, but he's not the only one. If serious inquiries ever get under way, many many more will be ripped from the woodworks, possibly even leading to the decades-long republican pedophile prostitute ring.
What Foley did was peanuts compared to the crimes of many of his contemporaries.

Anyway, it was no surprise at all to me.

Dane Cook is right, everything's on YouTube

I was Tubing some Mitch Hedberg and Steven Wright when I remembered a comedian I once saw but could not remember his name. A little Tube digging and I found him.

What I find infectious is that he is almost at the brink of hysterics at his own jokes. If it's an act, as most of it probably is, it's a convincing one.
